What’s not to love about local food? With the Long Island Sound and Atlantic Ocean to the south and east, Café Services diners have a healthy appetite for local shellfish including lobster, oysters, mussels and clams, and other fresh seafood catches like Atlantic cod and salmon.

It’s no coincidence that any Café Services chef worth his salt is a master at preparing seafood. Our menus feature a rich and satisfying selection of local seafood staples like clam chowder and southern New England-style lobster rolls dressed in butter (not mayo, like in Massachusetts) and served on a fresh hotdog bun.

Café Services diners are just as passionate about local food from the land. Like us, many support farm-to-table dining because it’s good for the community and local economy, and offers better tasting, more nutritious food.

Farmers’ markets and farm stands are popular in the Tri-State region, with many near Café Services business locations. Our chefs shop them regularly from Memorial Day through September for seasonal fresh produce and dairy products.

As a service to our diners, we also invite local farmers to sell their fresh-picked corn, strawberries, cucumbers, root vegetables, apples, eggs and other fare direct to our diners during lunch. Café Services buys whatever’s left to incorporate into our menus throughout the week.

Local Vendors

In the Tri-State region, there’s no shortage of local wholesalers that share Café Services’ values on sustainability, community and quality. A lot of the foods we use are sourced within a sixty-mile radius of our business locations.

That includes seafood from a local fish purveyor with daily, fresh-catch deliveries. We also get locally grown fruits and vegetables year-round from a fourth-generation, family-run greenhouse and farm stand in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Our chefs value these local connections because it gives them the flexibility to be creative with the freshest, seasonal ingredients on hand.
