Café Services Announces Animal Welfare Commitment
We support the globally recognized “Five Freedoms” for all animals in our supply chain:
- Freedom from hunger, thirst and malnutrition
- Freedom from discomfort
- Freedom from pain, injury and disease
- Freedom from fear and distress
- Freedom to engage in normal patterns of animal behavior
Café Services Animal Welfare Commitments include the following:
- Cage Free Eggs - As of August 2022, 60% of the shell eggs we use are cage-free. We are committed to switching to 100% cage-free shell eggs by 2023 and 100% cage-free liquid and ingredient eggs by 2024 across all operations.
- Broiler Chicken Welfare – We are committed to sourcing higher welfare broiler meat chicken and will meet or exceed the standards of the Better Chicken Commitment by 2024.
- Crate-Free Pork – We are committed to moving to crate-free pork operations. Our goal is to source 50% crate-free pork by 2024 and 100% by 2025.
