Café Services Goes Purple to Help Verizon Raise Domestic Violence Awareness

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Verizon, a Café Services’ Massachusetts corporate food service management customer, is “going purple” and rallying employees, supporters and customers to champion the cause.
Throughout October, Verizon is offering an exclusive line of purple HopeLine accessories including phone cases, a headset and tablet case. Each purchase activates a $1 donation to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, up to $100,000.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides resources and immediate support to victims seeking safety and a life free from abuse. These services are critical considering that in Massachusetts, nearly 1 in 3 women and nearly 1 in 5 men have experienced physical abuse from an intimate partner in their lifetime.*
Café Services, a corporate food service management provider to Massachusetts businesses, helped Verizon shed light on the issue on October 1, by answering the company’s call to wear purple to work.
“Although we work for Café Services, we approach our jobs as if we’re part of the Verizon family,” says Café Services food service director at Verizon, Roland Roy. “We were happy to do our part in the café to help Verizon raise awareness of a problem that hits close to home for so many.”
“Becoming a close, collaborative partner with our customers is a corporate priority,” says Café Services district manager, Mike Feely. “Helping to further their social causes is one of many ways we do it.”
In addition to supporting the hotline, Verizon is also continuing its mission to collect 1 million donated phones by the end of 2015 to benefit domestic violence organizations. The public can donate used wireless phones, chargers and accessories from any carrier at a Verizon store or through the HopeLine website. HopeLine will turn them into resources for domestic violence victims and survivors.
