Café Services provides sustainable workplace dining solutions with responsible and ethical business practices. Sustainable corporate dining commitments reflect social and environmental responsibility across our operations in service to 65+ cafeterias throughout the eastern U.S.

We partner with food vendors, local producers and product distributors who employ sustainable practices to support the social corporate dining objectives of our clients and their employees.  

As a family-owned corporate food service provider with annual sales revenue over $35M, we recognize the significant impact our purchasing decisions can have on various stakeholders and the wider community. 

Our social purchasing policies demonstrate our commitment to socially responsible procurement practices.

Café Services Commitments to Animal Welfare

  • Cage Free Eggs – We source 100% cage-free shell eggs and 100% cage-free liquid and ingredient eggs across all operations. 
  • Broiler Chicken Welfare – We source higher welfare broiler meat chicken and are committed to consistently meet or exceed the animal welfare standards of the Better Chicken Commitment.
  • Crate-Free Pork – Our corporate food programs are committed to sourcing and offering crate-free pork.  Currently, 70% of the pork we source is crate-free and our goal is 100% by 2025.

These practices ensure protein sustainability across all healthy eating programs our corporate cafeterias offer.

Menus Customized with Plant-Based Dietary Options 

Café Services’ customized menus for employee dining will feature 33% of entrees as plant-based by the end of 2024.  We mirror the sustainable workplace dining goals of each unique corporate food service client we serve through this commitment to source and incorporate plant-based dining options.  Healthy eating programs and balanced meal options serve as employee benefits that feature plant-based dietary options.

Environmentally Responsible Supplier Selection

We prioritize partnership with suppliers who share our values of environmental responsibility in social corporate dining, including those who demonstrate a commitment to fair labor practices, sustainable sourcing, and community engagement.  We seek suppliers who prioritize diversity and inclusion, ensuring equal opportunities for all individuals and businesses irrespective of race, gender, ethnicity, age, or disability.

Sustainable Corporate Food Service Sourcing

Our vendor management teams strive to source sustainably produced products and ingredients, prioritizing those that are certified organic, fair trade, locally grown, or ethically sourced.  We encourage our food suppliers and product distributors to adopt sustainable practices such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing water usage, and promoting waste reduction and recycling.

Support of Fair Trade and Ethical Practices

We support fair trade principles by actively seeking and promoting fair trade-certified products, which ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, and environmentally friendly production methods.  We are committed to working with suppliers who uphold high ethical standards, including compliance with applicable labor laws, no child labor, and respect for human rights.

Community Engagement 

We partner with food vendors and distributors who actively contribute to the wellbeing of local communities by supporting local producers, farmers, artisans, and small businesses.

We seek opportunities to give back to the communities we serve through charitable donations, volunteering, or other community involvement.

We continuously improve our social purchasing practices by regularly reviewing and assessing our supplier relationships, policies, and procedures. We actively seek feedback from our employees, customers, and stakeholders to ensure we are aligning our purchasing decisions with our social responsibility goals.
